Opened in 1976, the Textile Museum occupies a historic building dating from the early 19th century. Originally a private residence, it has served a variety of roles, including as headquarters during the struggle for Indonesian independence. The museum celebrates the country's textile heritage, exhibiting a vast collection of traditional textiles from different Indonesian islands, including Javanese batik, Batak ulos and ikat. It also features traditional weaving tools and equipment, offering a fascinating insight into Indonesian textile craftsmanship.
