It is the city's oldest monument and its emblem. Built between 1643 and 1647, during the reign of Vasile Lupu, Prince of Moldavia, the church was founded by local merchants on the banks of the Danube. Made of stone and brick, its massive style and multiple roofs form a beautiful synthesis of Moldavian, Transylvanian and Wallachian architectural styles. Its walls are up to 1.80 m thick. You'll see some lovely icons.
