Discover BUCAREST

At first glance, the Romanian capital may appear hostile. Frenetic, concrete-covered and polluted, it is dissected by vast avenues inherited from the Communist era. However, on closer inspection, Bucharest conceals a wealth of secrets, which it reveals sparingly: centuries-old monasteries nestled between Soviet blocks, sublime 19th- and 20th-century architecture, romantic parks, numerous museums, village districts... "Little Paris", as it is sometimes called, is home to a wealth of bars, restaurants and trendy spots, revealing an intense cultural life. Born of mixtures, with no clearly defined borders, transformed by one man's megalomania, this mixed city is a historical and architectural crossroads. Bucharest sometimes seems frozen in time, sometimes growing too fast: it's certainly this mix that makes it a place as disconcerting as it is endearing, still living between East and West.
