Park near New Kingston, symbolizing the abolition of slavery and known for its Redemption Song statue.
This park located near New Kingston, inaugurated on July 31, 2002, symbolizes the abolition of slavery. It is best known for its statue called Redemption Song, in tribute to Bob Marley, created by Laura Facey in 2003. This bronze sculpture of 3 meters high presents two naked statues, one male and one female, looking up to the sky. A strong symbolism of their triumphant rise to freedom from the horrors of slavery. Also Adinkra symbols in the park, in homage to the ancestors deported from West Africa.
