THE CROSS OF MISUGI

The current parish of Muyaga, the oldest in the country, was founded in Misugi, 22 km south-east of Cankuzo (and 18 km from Muyaga in the same direction). The missionary fathers settled in Misugi in 1896, but, finding the place wrong, they decided two years later to settle in Muyaga. A cross marks in Misugi the memory of the birth of Christian Burundi at the end of the th century.
