Mount Suyang (in Korean Suyangsan) rises to 946 metres above sea level, 7.5 km north of Haeju. This plateau extends over a surface of 10 to 12 km wide. Waterfalls renowned for their beauty are located in the southeast of the Hill. Mount Suyangsan is topped by a fort that was erected during the Koryo dynasty (936-1392). It has 8 km of walls, of which the height reaches 7 meters in some places and a width of 7 to 8 meters (at the base) and from 3 to 4 meters (at the top). 14 watchtowers were built to defend the building.
