This village adjoins Ubud via Jalan Raya Sanggigan. Quiet for those wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, Mas is inhabited mainly by Brahmin families, traditionally woodcarvers. Every 7 months, the temple of Taman Pulé is the object of a pilgrimage by all the island's priests, attracting thousands of offerings. On this occasion, dances are performed, including the wayang parwa, rarely seen in Bali. Sculptors, who originally made only ritual objects such as masks or statues for the temples, have adopted a less overloaded style and more erotic themes.
