El Chalten offers glacier trekking through veins and tunnels of ice
A trekking on the glacier is possible on the El Chalten side (the other being on the Perito Moreno glacier south sector). The equipment is provided (crampons, ice axe, waterproof clothing), but it is better to have your own transport as the return trip to Viedma lagoon is optional. You take the boat to cross the Viedma lagoon and walk along the glacier before walking on the glacier through the veins and ice tunnels (guaranteed thrills!) and you're on your way back. Non-sports enthusiasts can opt for a boat trip to the foot of the glacier.
