HOUSE OF GOETHE
Beautiful bourgeois house housing a museum that exhibits the works of Goethe and organizes temporary exhibitions.
This beautiful th century bourgeois house shows the richness of the Gœthe family. The living room, surrounded by blue, the magnificent stove with bas-reliefs representing the goddess of justice and the wedding of Canaa, set the scene for a very easy life. The most moving piece, the great writer's office, is on the second floor. Portraits of the poet are hung on the walls and a profile of Charlotte Buff. She inspired the Suffering of young Werther, a book that incited suicide to hundreds of young people and was at the time what we would call a bestseller today. In the other part of the house, a museum brings together the work of Gœthe (1749-1832) and organizes temporary exhibitions that are predominantly literary. This was honored by Brentano, Arnim and Hofmannsthal.
la maison de Goethe intéressante à visiter. Très original et luxueux.
