GOHLISER SCHLÖSSCHEN
Leipzig Castle is a very beautiful discovery in the heart of the Gohlis district. Certainly small, it is very aesthetic with its worked facades mixing baroque and rococo style. We also like its yellow tones and its elegant garden. It is the only real castle in Leipzig, as is Charlottenburg Castle in Berlin. The Gohliser Schlösschen was erected in 1755-1756 by the then President of the City Council, Johann Caspar Richter, as a summer palace, while Gohlis, the favourite "country" destination of the Leipzig elite of that time, was still only a village. Now part of the city, the castle is administered by an association. It is used for the organization of baroque and classical concerts, but also as a setting for theatre plays or exhibitions. Events that provide a unique opportunity to visit your orangery and salons. Guided tours are sometimes organized there. Below its left wing, the castle also houses a traditional Saxon restaurant. Please note that the courtyard, on the Menckestrasse side, and the garden, facing the Poetenweg, are free of charge.
