Located 50 km southwest of Tabriz, towards Osku, this cave village built on the foothills of Mount Sahand seems to be out of a story. Past the buildings in construction on the outskirts of Tabriz, the road overlooks a wooded plateau which forms a beautiful landscape, with snow-capped summits on the illuminated horizon of pink sunlight. Passage through Esfanjan km from Kandovan, a peaceful village where women have abandoned black chador for a colourful model and where the three minarets of the city, long and fine, point to the sky such as arrows. After some slowdowns caused by the intense movement of goats on the road, the next step is reached. Founded at the time sassanide, Kandovan, literally meaning "dug in the rock", engages in a south-facing cliff with its terrace houses overlooking each other, subtle alchemy between nature and human ingenuity. Covered with an end snow in late November, the houses resemble huge sugar breads. The cultures facing on the other side of the valley show that the village is not just a tourist attraction.Go through the streets, down the stairs to the steep and uneven stairs to face the faces of these people, who have been here for generations. Below, the stone bridges cross the river bordered by a house of outdoor tea. If this excursion is entirely feasible in half a day since Tabriz, perhaps you will have the desire to extend your getaway… If this is the case, you can sleep on the spot.
