In 1877, the warmth of the water in this portion of Lake Huron attracted a first vacationer who built a second home there. Since then, the second longest freshwater beach in the world after Wasaga has become very popular. Sauble Beach is said to be one of the ten most beautiful beaches in Canada. It is 11 kilometres long, not much less than the busy Wasaga Beach. Known for its twilight glow, it provides a feeling of eternity if you take the trouble to walk a little farther from the entrance. You'll also be envious of the people who rent or own such lovely cottages.
