Located south of Great Slave Lake, the town of Fort Resolution owes its name to the merger of the North West Company and the Hudson's Bay Company in 1821 to market the fur trade. Today the town lives off its many logging operations, trapping, hunting and domestic fishing. Its wildlife is characterized by numerous fish such as trout and pike as well as many forest species such as brown bear, wolf and elk. Fort Resolution offers a glimpse into the past, back in the days of the dawn boats that plied the Slave River, Great Slave Lake and the Mackenzie River. Lodging is available in private homes, cottages or on-site camping.
