This community is located in the far north of the province, at the mouth of the Churchill River on the shores of Hudson Bay. Every fall, it becomes the polar bear capital of the province, being on the migration route as they head back to the ice of Hudson Bay to feed on seals during the winter. Thus, every year, thousands of tourists flock to observe the majestic animal, threatened with extinction due to global warming (melting ice pack). Beluga whales can also be observed (July and August) as well as many species of birds, especially in the subarctic tundra.
