M.V. FRANCES BARKLEY

In addition to mail, the M.V. Frances Barkley Postal Carrier brings food to remote communities. Along the Alberni Inlet and Barkley Sound route, you may encounter killer whales and bears. The expedition starts north of Harbour Quay in Port Alberni and travels via Kildonan to Bamfield (starting on the West Coast Trail), then through the waters of Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands before arriving in Ucluelet. Kayakers can embark, and will be dropped off at Sechart, the starting point for kayaking expeditions through the Broken Group Islands.
