Along Avenue Marien Ngouabi, you'll find a half-food market, half-souk, under canopies that shade the route. Vegetables, live and dead bushmeat, shoes, clothes and kitchen utensils are sold. On the other side of the avenue, stores run by Mauritanians sell electronics, mechanical parts, telephones and accessories. Not far away is a small night market where you can nibble on barbecued meats until midnight, while enjoying the local atmosphere.
