Basilica designed by Roger Erell in 1943, with 22 m high vaults, emerald tiled roof and pointed arch
In an almost totally horizontal city, Sainte-Anne-du-Congo, with its 22 m high vaults and flamboyant emerald roof featuring 200,000 snake-scale tiles, looks like an ecumenical UFO. Roger Erell, who designed it in 1943, considered it the culmination of his research into Franco-African architectural synthesis. The pointed arch is inspired by spearheads, and the arches of the vault evoke hands joined in prayer.

beau à l'extérieur et moderne à l'intérieur
le toit vert brillant est accrocheur et magnifique. L'intérieur (d'après ce que j'ai pu voir étant donné que des enfants du coin m'ont immédiatement demandé de l'argent pour la visite guidée afin de le mettre dans le panier d'offrandes et que je n'y suis pas entré) est moderne.

Surprenante opaline située en plein milieu du paysage congolais, dominant les toits bas des maisons construites sur les parcelles alentours. La basilique Saint-Anne offre un spectacle étonnant aux voyageurs de paysage ! Son intérieur est plus classique mais reflète la sérénité du lieu.
The restoration of the Ste Anne basilica are completed since 2011. Its bell tower now is topped with a roof worthy of the name. Not to be missed!
