LA RÉSIDENCE

It is a set of local gargotes and terraces in a (rotating) recess of the Av. Lumumba. The Place des Leaders as its name suggests is the most elaborate of all, with a small disco (and toilets!). What they have in common: mitshopo, makala grills, on the street, tasty pickled goat or chicken skewers, served with chikwangue (manioc bread) or fried, topped with mayo and pili-pili. The ngandas as they are called in Kinshasa. It is popular, authentic, good-natured, festive, and attended by all social classes, who drink to the Simba or the well-struck Tembo. Resolutely to experiment.
