MATONGE DISTRICT

Matonge is one of Kinshasa's liveliest neighborhoods. Its main streets - Oshwe, Du stade and Madiakoko - are packed with nightclubs, bars and terraces where the music goes on until late. Mayo chicken is the local specialty. The drink is always cold. The district became famous thanks to Papa Wemba and his Bana MOLOKAI. Some scenes from the film La Vie est Belle (1987) were filmed here. In short, it's the Congolese nightlife district, which you must tame without fear. A must-see!
