A museum giving a good overview of Rapa Nui's historical heritage, with objects, maps and artistic creations...
For a good overview of the Rapa Nui historical heritage, this museum is an edifying testimony, where one discovers the history (supposedly!) of the moai and some elements of the heritage. Objects, maps and artistic creations of the rapa nui culture are also exposed. For the small anecdote, it is here that you can admire the only moai identified as female. The museum also houses a library and a laboratory for the conservation and research of archaeological materials.

This small museum named after Father Sebastian Engler is located not so far from the city center of Hanga Roa, about half an hour stroll from the fishing port. There are many interesting descriptions in English about the Island culture and some remarkable objects including one original Moai Eye carved in white coral and red scoria and copies of Rongo Rongo tablets; unfortunately the originals are in the Natural History Museum in Santiago. The place is nice and returning back to Hanga Roa I suggest to visit the beautiful site of Tahai.
