MONUMENTO NATURAL LA PORTADA

Located 16 km from Antofagasta, it is a natural triumphal arch to the glory of the elements and Poseidon. Measuring almost 43 m high, 70 m long and 27 m wide, it is the result of marine erosion; the volcanic rock is andesite, which dates back to the Jurassic period (about 100 million years ago). You can also go to the beach, which is bathed in mini caves. The seaside resort of Juan Lopez with its fine sandy beach is 38 km to the north-east.
