COCHAMÓ VALLEY
A superb, untouched valley that's not too touristy to visit on foot or horseback as far as La Junta and beyond.
This superb valley is an enchantment, all nature lovers will be delighted. We hike or ride horses to La Junta and even further. Not very touristy, it is even wilder. A much longer circuit is possible on horseback: a loop that will take you from Cochamó to Puelo (about 10 days of riding). We reach the El Arco valley (summary refuge) and Lake Gormaz.
On horseback: rent a horse with an arriero in Cochamó (you ask and you always end up running into someone nice); a guide will accompany you. The landscapes are idyllic and the walk is sumptuous. The trip takes about 5 hours to the lodge (picnic near a fiery river, the río Pedra). It takes this long to get back down. The best is to stay at least two nights up there to take the time and enjoy the place.around the lodge, a 6 km trail leads to two waterfalls; signs evoke the main tree species that you will come across along the way. We can admire some very beautiful and very old alerts.
On foot: follow the track on the left before the bridge to the campsite, for 8 km, then continue on the path that runs more or less along the river, deviating from it a little. The site of La Junta is reached by crossing the river at the end (follow the horses' tracks). There you can camp if you want, taking advantage of the quincho to prepare an asado. Note that if your bag is heavy, you can use a pilchero, a carrier horse.
