THIRUVALLUVAR STATUE
Statue over 40 m high on a rocky islet, close to another island housing the Vivekananda memorial.
Close to the rocky islet that houses the Vivekananda memorial is another islet dominated by a 40-metre statue of Thiruvalluvar, a Tamil moralist poet from the 1st century B.C. It was inaugurated on January1, 2000. Verses from the poet's work Thirukkural, translated into English, are engraved on the walls of the building that serves as the base for the monumental statue. Inaugurated in December 2024, a spectacular glass bridge, the Kanyakumari Glass Bridge, links the islet of the Vivekananda memorial to the statue.
