An ideal spot for water sports, 21 km from Mahabalipuram. Thanks to the efforts of the TTDC, the Muttukadu backwaters (or marshes) have become a site for picnics and water sports. Every year in February, the windsurfing regatta on the canals attracts windsurfing fanatics from all over the world. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation has a boathouse here. Visitors can go motorboating or rowing with a "compulsory driver". Training programs are available for beginners.
