Ancient temple dedicated to Shiva, famous for its Dravidian mural paintings, including the Pradosha Nritham fresco (Shiva's dance)

This ancient temple is dedicated to Shiva. The present structure dates from 1542, but the temple's activity dates back much further... Its roofs are covered with copper leaf and have 14 ornamental peaks. The temple is most famous for its Dravidian mural paintings, particularly the Pradosha Nritham (Shiva's dance) fresco, considered one of the finest in the country. Its ezhara ponnana, or seven gilded elephants, are also worth admiring.

Un très beau temple, ancien et en bois. Il vaut particulièrement le détour les jours de fêtes (notamment celle durant laquelle des bougies sont disposées tout autour du temple et créent une atmosphère magique!).
