Mosque built over 1,000 years ago on the Meenachil River, one of the oldest in the country, to be visited by men only

Built more than 1,000 years ago, it is one of the oldest mosques in India. It is located on the Meenachil river which surrounds the city like a silver band. Only men are allowed inside. It reflects the traditional Kerala style of architecture, with its finely carved woodwork. The village of Thazhathangady, has recently been declared a Heritage Zonebecause of its history and architectural beauty.
