An impressive 1,223.5 m-long structure that helped develop the state's agriculture, and worth a visit for its panoramic lake

Completed in 1957, it is an impressive 1,223.5 m long structure and a road bridge that crosses the Krishna River. It allowed the development of agriculture in the state. You will use it if you arrive by bus from Chennai or to go to Amaravati. Its scenic lake and the three canals that crisscross it give Vijayawada a very Venetian look. In the evening, the dam is illuminated in different colors to great effect. Bhavani Island, upstream of the Krishna River, near the Prakasam Dam, is a popular picnic spot.
