TUNGABHADRA DAM

This dam on the Tungabhadra River was completed in 1953, after years of negotiations and conflict with Andhra Pradesh, where the river also flows. It was finally financed jointly by the two states, which benefit from the control of the river for power generation and field irrigation. This dam is crucial in a region often affected by drought. The best time to visit is after the monsoon, when the reservoir is full and the artificial lake glistens in the sunlight.
