Dromedaries and camel drivers take over Bikaner for a festival where men and animals are dressed in their finest finery.
Crowds flock to Bikaner's colorful camel festival. The festivities begin at the foot of the Junagarh fort, with a parade of camels decked out in bright colors: tasselled reins, embroidered saddle cloths. The eyes of the dromedaries are made up for the occasion with kohl or coal. A lot of competitions are organized on this occasion: races, milking camels, dressage, voltige, shearing. Folkloric dance shows are held on the sidelines.
