Travel Guide Sodakore

Sodakore (sometimes spelled Sorhakor) is located at equal distance between Pokaran and Jaisalmer, 55 kilometers from both cities. This oasis in the middle of the desert has long served as a stopover for caravans coming from Bikaner or Jodhpur and going to Jaisalmer. Today it is a modest village, at the gates of the desert, still displaying a unique wild landscape. It houses only 200 and a few families. The place gives the feeling of being cut off from the world; it is a place where nature is preserved, with its sand dunes, its stunted vegetation and its herds of domestic animals. In winter the place is ideal for watching migratory birds.
