OHRM PALACE
Palace, one of the finest examples of Rajput architecture, overlooking the city, combining 3 palaces from the and centuries
The Bundi Palace is considered one of the finest examples of added architecture. Overlooking the city, this imposing edifice, some parts of which are in danger of collapsing, actually consists of three palaces built in the 17th and 18th centuries. Its dilapidated atmosphere is wildly romantic and one quickly begins to dream of the splendour of life that was to take place there in the time of its splendour. It is regretted, however, that despite a high visiting fee, its owner does not take better care of it. The visit is, however, well worth it.
First we enter the Ratan Daulat through the imposing Elephant Gate. Built by Maharao Ratan Singh, vassal of the Mughal Empire, it contains a magnificent white marble throne on the first floor. Then, one reaches the Chatra Mahal built by Maharao Shastrusal Singh. It features beautiful murals in turquoise, green, blue and yellow. Notice the pillars each supported by four elephants in Hathiya Sal and the wooden doors inlaid with ivory.
Finally, head to Chitrashala, built by Rao Umed Singh in the 18th century. Leaving through the Elephant Gate, take the ascent towards the fort. The entrance is on the left. The flowery gardens dominate the city and offer a beautiful view. Inside the palace there are beautiful, well-preserved paintings depicting Ragmala and Raslila (the love story between Radha and Krishna). Krishna, always represented in blue, is easily recognizable.
