A festival in tribute to the ocean, with the aim of raising public awareness of the need to preserve the seas.

Essaouira lives to the rhythm of the ocean, so it was only logical that the town should create a festival in tribute to it, with the aim of raising public awareness of the preservation of the seas and our Mother Earth. Organized by the very active local branch of the Institut Français, the festival features conferences, debates, photo exhibitions and screenings on themes such as fishing and pollution, all aimed at a very wide audience, including the very young. As Baudelaire so aptly put it, "Homme libre, toujours tu chériras la mer..." (Free man, always cherish the sea)
