Pre-Saharan Erg, 13 km long and 5 km wide, with 150 m-high dunes perfect for camel riding

Erg Chebbi, also known as the Merzouga dunes, is one of Morocco's two great Saharan ergs (dune deserts). It is 13 km long and 5 km wide, with the highest dune reaching 150 m in altitude. Here, you can ride a camel, bathe in the healing sand or "ski" on the dunes. But the best is still the easiest: you can watch the magnificent sunsets or sunrises from the top of the dunes. Be warned, though, that the site is besieged by tourists, some of whom have little respect for the environment.

Change of scene in these lunar landscapes (very). An experience meticulously!
If my stays in Morocco pass by Merzouga, I always stop at the Ocean dunes, a Brahim.Avec his brothers, it holds the camping inn facing the dunes fantastic welcome, is oneself- and it is a delight to go up to the sunset (or rising) on the slopes and walk in the day in the palm grove. To Erg chebi, turn left a few miles before Merzouga and follow the track...
