Discover MOSTAR
The historic capital of Herzegovina and tourist capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mostar/Мостар is a splendid city. Around its iconic Old Bridge, whose high and majestic arch spans the Neretva, the Ottoman quarters are dotted with mosques, cobbled streets and elegant houses. It enjoys a grandiose setting, nestled between Mount Velež (1,969 m) and Hum Hill (392 m). It is also a complicated city: since the last war, it is completely divided between Catholics and Muslims. Mostar has about 65,000 inhabitants, 47% of whom are Bosnian-Croats, 44% Bosnians and 7% Bosnian-Serbs. It is the capital of the municipality of Mostar (105,000 inhabitants) and the canton of Herzegovina-Neretva (215,000 inhabitants). The city is 120 km southeast of Livno(via Tomislavgrad), 129 km southwest of Sarajevo(via Jablanica) and 139 km northwest of Dubrovnik (Croatia).
