Budding ethnologists interested in Aboriginal cultures should not miss a visit to this nanai community. You can get there on your own or by bus (info at the train station). Sikachi-Alian, 270 inhabitants, is located 75 km northeast of Khabarovsk. You will discover a nice museum of local traditions. The site, which is also archaeological, is famous for its petroglyphs (200 inscriptions and drawings engraved in stone). In winter, you can go skiing at the nearby ski resort. Lodging and food on site, notably at the Velcom ecotourism complex (pride-dv.narod.ru).
