Strasbourg's neo-Gothic Republic district, its circular square is home to some remarkable buildings.

The République district links the old city with the new, also known as the Neustadt. Its bucolic circular square is home to imposing buildings such as Strasbourg's national theater, the Palais du Rhin (a former German imperial palace), the prefecture and the national university library. This neo-Gothic district, built during the German annexation, was recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. An absolute source of pride for the locals, and a wonderful discovery for architecture and history buffs.
