This classical-style building was the residence of the prince-bishops of Strasbourg.

Built between 1732 and 1742 by Robert de Cotte, this classical-style edifice was the residence of the prince-bishops of Strasbourg. A true testament to the art of 18th-century living, the Palais Rohan was built according to the plans of the great Parisian hotels of the period, which were distinguished by a courtyard side and a garden side. The buildings are arranged around a main courtyard. With their decorum and ceremonial furnishings, the apartments skilfully reflect the sumptuous lifestyle of the period. The Palais Rohan houses three museums.

Definitely worth visiting! Especially when you get a combined ticket for the three museums inside the palace.

Дворецът "Роан" в Страсбург е бившата резиденция на принцовете-епископи и кардиналите от династията Роан, древен френски благороднически род, произхождащ от Бретан. Той е основна архитектурна, историческа и културна забележителност в града. Разбира се, наред с катедралата, до която е построен. От края на 19-ти век дворецът е дом на три от най-важните музеи в Страсбург: Археологическият музей, Музеят на декоративните изкуства и Музеят на изящните изкуства. Общинската художествена галерия, в страничното крило на двореца, се използва за временни изложби. Всички музеи си заслужават, макар да няма достатъчно удобен вариант за комбиниран билет за всичките. Много ми хареса Музеят на декоративните изкуства със страхотната си колекция от порцелан. Наред с експонатите на музеите, допълнително удоволствие представлява и възможността да се разгледа интериора на двореца с неговите зали, библиотеки, спални, тронни зали и др. За тази цел най-подходящ от всички е именно Музеят на декоративните изкуства.
