HUMAN RIGHTS PALACE
Vast stone and glass monument housing the European Court of Human Rights
The Palais des Droits de l'Homme, an imposing stone and glass edifice set against the banks of the Ill river, houses the European Court of Human Rights. François Mitterrand laid the foundation stone in 1992. The two great towers evoke the scales of justice. The building is not open to the public, and only the hearings of the European Court of Human Rights are open to the public. The library is open to researchers. The park is freely accessible.
