A remarkable pagoda in Strasbourg, a temporal shelter and spiritual refuge to help achieve essential virtues.

The Association bouddhique vietnamienne de Strasbourg was founded in 1989 by the Venerable Thích Minh Tâm and Strasbourg's Vietnamese Buddhist community. Its aim is to teach the practice of Buddhism in the Vietnamese tradition. The pagoda is both a temporal shelter and a spiritual refuge to help attain the essential virtues: generosity, morality, patience, vigor, concentration and wisdom, and then to remain in the world to help others. With its many activities, it is open to anyone wishing to meditate or take part in retreats. It's a sublime place imbued with serenity.

The big praying ceremony are held weekly from 9-12 at the weekend. We visited the pagoda on a Monday but luckily the monk was there so she let us in and made 3 big glasses of fresh orange juices for us. She also offered lunch but unfortunately we couldn’t stay. I came here 13 years ago when I was pregnant with my son and received the same warm welcoming. It’s lovely to see the pagoda gets bigger, well kept and keep its doors open to everyone.
