Typical Alsatian restaurant offering generous portions in Strasbourg.

The Schnockeloch, literally "the mosquito hole", is typically Alsatian: smoked palette on sauerkraut, grilled knuckle of ham with munster cheese, poultry blanquette, fish sauerkraut, pork cheeks... The plates are carefully prepared and the team is friendly and welcoming. We love the chic decor without being stuffy, and the superb panoramic view of the city from the second floor, particularly pleasant in the evening. Located halfway between the station and the city center, the Schnockeloch is a good stopping-off point for tourists and locals alike.

Traditional regional food as a Coeliac I could only have 2 things on the menu. I chose the choucroute and accompaniments. I found the portions massive and rather bland. Hotdog, pork loin, belly pork and 2 other different sausages but it all tasted the same. My husband had the beer braised ham hock another massive portion and again not much flavour. So this was not for us but the place was packed and even kids eating these massive portions so give it a go.

Beautifuly designed restaurant, despite us being late for dinner, since the restaurant close at 11, they welcomed us and prepared the menu for us.
Very kind service and the food was just delicious.
