As the place of the Batha region, in the heart of Chad, Ati has a village atmosphere. His inhabitants are descended from Mohamed El Abed, brother of Ahmed Ech Chérif, former master of the Senoussya.A large central walkway, bordered by nimiers, allows to cross it; you can win the river Batha, a real central artery of the city, taking a lane perpendicular to the south. During the dry season the river is dry, but as soon as the rains occur, Batha breaks into unpredictable mascarets which sometimes takes on their pet and male passage. Passing the Batha is a source of concern for transhumant that go back to the northern territories. It's about making maximum use of good pastures while crossing the river before it has become dangerous.Retardataires sometimes borrowed toror, gourds rafts, to go to the right bank, but mostly appealed to the services of the Father of Batha, the famous ATI wise to know the génies of water and to walk under the waters with them. The Father of Batha guided the flocks by the least dangerous gués; but one day it is not the river, probably preferring the company of the aquatic jinn to that of humans…Berbéré (water sorghum) and millet are grown in the vicinity of Ati. You can see in fields men and women beating millet at the end of November or early December, and berbéré in February. Along the roads, you cross women with scourges, who are rushing to the market, foot or juchées on donkeys; men, for their part, are armed with sagaies and travel on horseback.
