From Iriba (60 km) and Guéréda (105 km) you can go to Tiné, a border town with Sudan, and thus a wonderful shopping and traffic centre of all kinds between the two countries. The border is materialized by the wadi, in which the cattle market takes place in the dry season (it is moved a little higher during the rainy season). A large and well-stocked daily market is located across the streets of the city. In addition to a wide choice of food, sandals, flip-flops and various shoes, from fabric, leather, knives and sagaie to blacksmiths, the transit of livestock occupies an important place. for example, the many animal parks installed everywhere, in which the animals spend a few days waiting for their departure for Sudan. The authorities demand 2 000 FCFA per head of zébu and 200 FCFA per head of small ruminants to permit the sale of animals abroad; imagine the invoices paid by certain livestock exporters, and you will understand their willingness to look for ways to move the borders into fraud…Many Libyan lorries also come to Tiné in animals, dumping their various goods in exchange, and then cross the border to return to their country by bad sandy tracks. At the exit of the city, towards Bahai (Ennedi), lies the redefined district, which resembles a fortified village, with walls filled with enceinte walls.
