At the western end of the northern tip is the quiet village of Current, populated by descendants of the early white settlers. It is the oldest village on the island. Among the multicoloured houses, there are some old grey buildings with a fairly classic patina that have stood the test of time, which is remarkable considering the harsh environment on the islands. At the tip of the point is the long, deserted islet of Current Island. The famous Current Cut, one of the most famous dive sites of the archipelago, separates Current Island from Eleuthera and offers divers a sometimes impressive current.
