THE CLOISTER

Amazing curiosity that this true French cloister under a tropical sky! In 1968, Hartford, a wealthy owner of the island, bought the cloister of a th century augustinian monastery to William Randolph Hearst, the American press tycoon immortalized in the film Citizen Kane. The cloister was transported to Nassau from Lourdes via Florida and rebuilt stone with great care, according to its original structure. It dominates the port. On the other side of the road are the Versailles Gardens.
