The municipality is bordered on the south by the Mira River, which forms a beautiful setting in this area. There are seven sandy beaches, one pebble beach and many coves, often difficult to access.
The Farol beach is located near the city center: if it is well sheltered, it is of course one of the most frequented of the surroundings.
The praia das furnas is located on the other side of the river, and can be reached by small ferries that make regular trips in summer. A beautiful place with many dunes, in the middle of reddish rocks.
The praia do malhão is a succession of magnificent and preserved beaches, which can be reached by a long sandy path. If you can't stand the sun, go there in the evening to admire the sunset. The place is known by surfers and bodyboarders, who consider it a quality spot. Naturism is tolerated in the northern part.
