Formerly called Khulm, Tashkurgan is 60 km from Mazar. It was once a magnificent covered bazaar, and unfortunately nothing remains. It was the last traditional cover in the country. In September 1997, the city was taken by the Taliban and subjected to civil war. And it was in the 1990 s that the last vestiges of this bazaar were destroyed.
