Saint Lucia Estuary is located in the iSimangaliso Nature Reserve Park, a World Heritage Site. The park is made up of several conservation areas, the oldest of which is the Saint Lucia Game Reserve, established in 1895. The park, South Africa's first World Heritage Site, recognized for its outstanding natural beauty, ecological processes and biodiversity, covers 332,000 hectares and includes a 230 km coastline. The site offers many activities, including birdwatching, flora and fauna discovery, inshore fishing and boat trips in the estuary. Accommodation is also available in the area.
