Site featuring a monumental statue celebrating victory and a monument paying tribute to those who died for the country
The hills are as many points of resistance for which the soldiers of both armies fought foot to foot: Mont Fictif, Mont Chauve, the Elianes, Dominique, Huguette, Claudine, Anne-Marie, Gabrielle, Junon, Lily, Isabelle, Beatrice. On Dominica (D1), a monumental statue celebrating the victory was erected in 2004, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary. A memorial is a collection of artillery pieces. General de Castries' CP has been reconstituted. Erected thanks to a former legionnaire, a war memorial pays tribute to those who fell for France.

Cette ville est triste et sans intérêt ! il n'y a rien à y faire, hôtellerie et restauration sont quelconques ... Seul détail : notre chauffeur y a fait provision de riz (150kg) qui, parait-il, est un des meilleurs du Vietnam !

La ville en elle même n'a pas grand interêt, toutefois nous avons trouvé par hasard à côté du pont Muong tanh un marché de rue authentique qui à lui seul valait le séjour à DienBien.

Franchement en dehors des passionnés d'histoire contemporaine, il n'y a pas grand chose a faire et a voir à Dien Bien Phu.... Achetez vous un bouquin sur la bataille et vous en apprendrez plus qu'en visitant les musés locaux...
