The museum opened its doors on May 5, 2014 on the 60th anniversary of the battle. It presents photos, documents, reconstructions and objects organized according to 4 themes: the 9 years of resistance to French colonialism, from September 1945 to May 1954; the unfolding of the battle; the international support for this battle; and the impacts of the victory of Diên Biên Phu on the world. Among the objects exhibited, an unusual presence, General de Castries' bathtub.

Si votre périple vous a arrêté à Dien Ben Phu quelques heures c'est surement en visitant ce musée que vous trouverez la meilleure occupation dans cette ville.

Une visite intéressante lors d'un passage à Dien Bien Phu. Si l'exposition dans le hall du musée n'est pas des plus intéressant, en revanche, le reste de l'exposition est bien conçu : photos et objets d'époque et quelques mises en scène.
