Built in 1830, the arena hosted tiger and elephant fights for the emperor and his guests.
In the past, tigers and elephants fought on the banks of the Perfume River. The site was marked out with thick ropes, and the emperor and his guests followed the fight from a boat. One day, a tiger jumped out and charged straight at the boats. The emperor managed to get away, but the incident prompted him to build a bullring. They were built in 1830 and operated until 1904. Today, only the enclosure remains.
